Shouts and whispers

Shouts
and whispers
sung in harmony
or discord.
Oratory eloquent
or lacking
a single word
no sound, breathless.
Anchored fast
yet still adrift
feather touches
of a wind
untamable.
From the day's
first light
until eyes shut
for sleep
from heartbeat
to heartbeat
all is prayer.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer  Psalm 19:14 NKJV

Stop by Jason's where this week's Warrior Poet Circle prompt was prayer.

The message is as powerful as the poem itself. Very nicely composed ~ Rose

Beautiful, Karin. Prayer is like an ongoing conversation, "heartbeat to heartbeat," punctuated by those whispers and shouts.

When we slow down enough to hear the thump, thump, no audible word needs awakening. Breath alone can exchange our relationship to God...and yet the verse of longing posted at the end is needful.

This is a beautiful description of prayer...whether no sound or "oratory eloquent"...lovely. And I like what Brian said about our breathing, "yhwh".
