Encouraged by His words

Often these days, life has felt thick and hard, obstacles seem to rise up unexpectedly, confusion is in the air. On the battle lines in prayer I know there are times that my back is uncovered, exposed to enemy assaults. Where does the courage to press in and press on come from?

I read about David in the midst of his trials:

David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 Amplified

So journal in hand, I turned to the same Source, my strength, where encouragement should be expected, not a surprise.

I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11). That is and always has been My promise to you - and unlike the plans of man - My promises are true.

In the world - the fastest way to reach your destination is to run - but in My Kingdom - the fastest route is surrender.

Surrender is not an event, but a choice you make moment by moment, day by day.

Isn't it easier to swim with the current instead of against it? Yet there will be times I ask you to swim up stream - but when I ask I also supply the extra power you'll need.

I know this feels like one of those "up stream" seasons, little one, as you sense the need to hold to a course that most are not following.

You can't direct their paths, you can only hold to the course I set for you, speak when I say speak, and as you pray ask that My will be done.

Know that I Was, Am and ever will Be sovereign. I Am not surprised or shaken.

Come abide - climb inside. My peace is here.

I challenge you to take a moment to ask the Lord to lift you up. He's right there waiting.

Thanks for reminding us that the greatest and most wortwhile work is the work of faith -- going to the Lord and actually sitting down, praying and drawing His words in. and swallowing them. Your name reflects your heart so well, Faithful Firefly! :)

What a great reminder that we always need to go back to the one true source for our encouragement.

I love this. His encouragement is always expected. Nothing surprises Him.

What a powerful post! A great reminder that our ultimate source of encouragement is God Himself! I absolutely love what He spoke to you about the fastest way to reach your destination being surrender. WOW!! So true!! Thank you for sharing your heart. God has spoken through you to me, today.
