all time and now

And now to him who can keep you on your feet,
standing tall in his bright presence,
fresh and celebrating—
to our one God, our only Savior,
through Jesus Christ, our Master,
be glory, majesty, strength, and rule
before all time, and now,
and to the end of all time.
Yes.

15 February 2014

life blooms

Wilderness and desert will sing joyously,
    the badlands will celebrate and flower—
Like the crocus in spring, bursting into blossom,
    a symphony of song and color.

when all seems frozen
sleeping, near death
it is in the secret
quiet place
that something fresh
waits to burst forth

this is the way

Your own ears will hear him.
    Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
    whether to the right or to the left

At her master's feet

Only one thing is important [necessary; needed].
Mary has chosen the better thing,
and it will never be taken away from her

May today and all days
find you taking time
to sit at the feet of your Master

Come in trust

When I get really afraid
I come to you in trust.
I’m proud to praise God;
fearless now, I trust in God.
What can mere mortals do?

Blessed among mothers

Thinking of Mary, the mother of our Lord and honoring my Mom and all mothers today!

And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary,
that the babe leaped in her womb;
and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

What is man?

What is man that You are mindful of him,
and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings],
and You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet:
 All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious)
is Your name in all the earth!

Once again singing His praise with Deidra's choir this Sunday

Come away...

My beloved speaks and says to me,
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
and come away.
For, behold, the winter is past;
the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing [of birds] has come,
and the voice of the turtledove
is heard in our land

Eyes fixed

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.   Hebrews 12:2 The Message

Grow

It takes a measure of faith
when we don't know
what we will become
to simply release ourselves
into His hands
and grow

Stopping for a moment to give Him glory with Deidra and the Sunday choir

Finding strength

But those who wait for the Lord
[who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
shall change and renew their strength and power;
they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God]
as eagles [mount up to the sun];
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Abiding in the vine

I am the Vine, you are the branches.
When you're joined with me and I with you,
the relation intimate and organic,
the harvest is sure to be abundant.
Separated, you can't produce a thing.

He reigns

Top of Murchison Falls, Uganda, Africa
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude,
like the roar of rushing waters
and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!

For our Lord God Almighty reigns

Giving him glory at Deidra's today as we unite our praises

Sunday offering

We must offer ourselves to God
like a clean, smooth canvas
and not worry ourselves
about what God may choose to paint on it,
but at each moment,
feel only the stroke of His brush.
-- Jean Pierre de Caussade

Free indeed

So if the Son liberates you
[makes you free men],
then you are really
and unquestionably free.
