Blanket of white

This morning I woke to a brittle blanket of white covering the world beyond my window.
Sun kissed crystals shimmered, danced
Isn't that is the call upon our lives, to reflect His light,
to shine even when our very bones may feel frozen, dark and fragile?

I wanted to capture the scene in digital pixels, yet could not.

Journal open, He spoke to me about love.

Continue to learn what love is.
Continue to ask Me.
Wait.  Watch.  Listen.
When you feel My gentle push, move.
You can act in love even when you don't think you feel love.
Love is more than a feeling, more than emotion that cannot be trusted.
Love is what you choose to do, until it becomes who you are.
This is how you will become more like Me.
Love is Who I Am.

Just as you are learning to say the hard "thank you", you will learn to love the unloveable, to love hard enough to see that are no unlovables at all!

At the Cross on Saturday

I know a place, a wonderful place
Where accused and condemned
Find mercy and grace
Where the wrongs we have done
And the wrongs done to us
Were nailed there with Him
There at the cross

At the cross,
At the cross
He died for our sin
At the cross,
At the cross
He gave us life again

Keep your eyes on Jesus,
who both began and finished this race we're in.
Study how he did it.
Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—
that exhilarating finish in and with God—
he could put up with anything along the way:
Cross, shame, whatever.
And now he's there, in the place of honor,
right alongside God.

Copper Kettles for Rumors of Water

Lyla Lindquist of A Different Story is leading us in a study of L. L. Barkat's Rumors of Water

I tossed some words about in the air and this is how they landed --

Copper kettles
cold as ice
water waits without a hint
of movement

None of the boiling
needed
for my cinnamon tea
sweet with
red hot chili bite

Tongue touches lips
salivating
water cold as ice
in copper kettles
full and silent

Words wait
no hint of movement
to be poured fresh
steaming

I must use
what I have
but first
turn on the flame

Begin to begin

Without looking

Before leaving home
He reminded me
where ever I may go
I need never leave Him

Road heading East from Galena, Illinois
I wasn't listening
as He was speaking
in bright display

Tree in early bloom, Glenview, Illinois
How could I miss
the wonder of His hand
winged joy
delighting in flight

Duck in Port Washington, Wisconsin
Strokes delicate
as His whispering
promises

Orchids at Mitchell Park Domes, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
You need not search or strive
stop a moment, rest here
find me where I wait
ever wait
for you

Black River in La Crosse, Wisconsin
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.  But you would have none of it  Isaiah 30:15 NLT

Winter to summer and back

Cederburg, Wisconsin
We have passed from winter to spring to summer then back in this most unusual year of season's change.

While we were away warming our bones in temperatures way above normal in the midwestern States we missed a wet and heavy snowfall.  Perhaps I need to rephrase that, for I did not "miss" the snow at all and was happy to see none of it remaining as we pulled into the yard late yesterday afternoon.

Rain and possible snow are forecast for our weekend, which is nothing extraordinary in this northern place.

It matters little to me as my heart and thoughts are turned toward the One Who made this the holiest of weeks.

May the passion that drove Him to the cross burn within me at a fever pitch, the intensity of His love etching deeply into my spirit.

I am happy to be home even as I realize more each day that home is truly not here, but wherever He Is.

Finding strength

But those who wait for the Lord
[who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
shall change and renew their strength and power;
they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God]
as eagles [mount up to the sun];
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Living water

Waterfall in the Friendship Gardens - La Crosse, Wisconsin

Back on the road
winding along the Mississippi
breathing deep
drinking in freedom
refreshment
no need to be anything but His
living water never ceases
