Midnight praise

I have known
the ticking of the clock
dark that settles
deep
loud the voices
that condemn
and keep me far
from sleep
captive to memories
failures, fear
forgetting in shadows
my Lord is still near
the sound of His name
a whisper of praise
strips the midnight hour
of the enemy's power
peace descends
His presence sweet
I fall into grace
free

But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them, suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison were shaken; and at once all the doors were opened and everyone's shackles were unfastened.  Acts 16:25-26 Amplified

Yes! We had similar thoughts. Beautiful poem, Karin. Thank you.

I hate when those thoughts come. I love that just a whisper of praise strips the enemy's power.
