One Word Carnival - Strength

I thought it took strength to fight, but am I strong enough to be still?

Always another battle around the corner
over the next hill
and standing is not for the faint of heart.

The victory has already been secured
for those who wait and watch and pray…

Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.  Exodus 14:13-14 Amplified

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you. 2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV

Strength is silent.  Strength is still.  Strength is patient.
Strength is in learning to surrender and find my life in Him.

"Standing is not for the faint."

Amen. Your post reminded me of Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

In order to stand we need to find strength in God and equip ourselves with His armor.

Another paradox of the Christian life, there is strength in surrender. But I suppose really it's not surrender as we usually think of it, as in giving up. It's turning over our lives completely for His glory. That's when and where the strength begins. Thanks- love your thoughts today.

"Strength in stillness" -- there is great wisdom here. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is be still -- not do nothing -- but simply be still.

Very nice! I think I will copy it into my personal journal if that is okay.

I'm adding that to my quotes collection. To whom should it be attributed?

There is strength in being still...that is where we hear Him best. Thanks for sharing!

I love the wisdom in your post. Great thoughts -- and I too like the line, "Standing is not for the faint."

That opening line. It was so powerful, and convicting. I am one who tends to jump ahead rather than having the strength to be still.
Thank you! And thanks for those verses.

It's taken me years to learn the strength involved in surrender. And it'll take me more years to learn it all over again. Needed these words today.

Back to what I sent to someone else: Exodus 14:14 -- I will fight for you and you shall hold your peace. [He'll do it; you don't need to.] Also Deut. 6:23 -- He brought us out... so He could bring us in.

So, when we're in that "middle zone", waiting. "Waiting" takes strength. All we have, all we can hope for, is holding/ trusting in Him for the results. He'll fight for us, and He'll open the way to the next path...

Thanks for your insights/wisdom.
