Creativity Boot Camp - Lesson 1

I am a couple of days late beginning the work for Creativity Boot Camp having just arrived home last night, but I am diving in and will catch up as I can.

I have been praying about what medium to create in, knowing that words come easier to me than other more "graphic" arts. I have decided that I will combine both my love for words and my new found interest in capturing digital images in a way that conveys truths of the Kingdom of God. For a long time I have been matching pictures with scriptures.. but now I will use the poetry and prose that the Spirit provides.

The prompt for Day 1 was Ivory. Click to enlarge photo.

Tuesdays Unwrapped - Home Ground

Rick and I stopped in the National Park for dinner as we drove home from Winnipeg after my week away in the States. We took a walk out on the pier.

Against the turmoil of the skies
the red maple leaf of the Canadian flag
fluttered bravely in the wind
and reminded me that the God I serve
is in control at all times.

As I looked up, drops of rain danced upon my cheeks
and welcomed me home.

Saturday Evening Blog Post - May 2010

It's that time again. Come on over to Elizabeth Esther's to read blogger's self chosen favourite posts for the past month and add your own link while you're there.

This month, I've added a post from late in May titled Prayer of Promise - surrending the season into the hands of God.

Home isn't home

Mornings here are filled with
sirens, garbage trucks
impatient car horns
noise.
The haze in the air
almost tangible
as if I could reach out and hold it.
I know these streets
and though much has changed
enough remains familiar
yet
I am an alien here now
and I miss the silence
the clarity
the space, the scent,
the freedom
of home.

I ache for the arms that will welcome me
back to my life
for sweet dog kisses
and time in the presence
of the lover of my soul.
Where home IS home.

Word Filled Wednesday - Pass it on!

Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don't forget anything of what you've seen. Don't let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you've seen and heard to your children and grandchildren. Deuteronomy 4:9 The Message

Tuesdays Unwrapped - Lesson

I'm not on my home computer, or my laptop. This system of Mom's is connected to high-speed which is surely a plus, but screen resolution is set in a way that makes it clumsy to read and or write blog posts.

I find myself clicking blindly when icons and boxes do not appear as they should.

And I know that God has a lesson in here for me somewhere.

Today I am unwrapping the reflection of myself when I try to walk through this life on my own without His wisdom and His vision. Every now and then I get lucky and hit on the right thing, but most often I just click away getting nowhere.

I am reminded of an old hymn -- "I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee"

Lord, my life is best in Your hands. Thank You for the gentle reminder this morning.
