around the curve

I have been frozen in my brokenness
dry, splintered, fragile
the road ahead and behind
rocky, rutted, slippery
hard to see signposts
in clouds of dust
my steps are small, painful
both in body and heart
yet surely the refreshing
the eruption of new life
is waiting, ever waiting
just around the next curve

For I will [fully] satisfy the weary soul,
and I will replenish every languishing and sorrowful person.

morning walk

the morning rose clear
bright and fresh
perfect time to take a walk
around the bend
soaking in images
of the land I am leaving behind
turning back toward home
the house nestled in the trees
that soon will be home to others
while we are away
the Shasta daisies
reaching to the sun
wild, invasive beauties
tended by the Master gardener
our water source
man's design to draw
what the Creator provided
may our hearts ever be open
to receive His promised
Living Water
if that is all we have
it is much more
than we will ever need

On the final and climactic day of the Feast,
Jesus took his stand.
He cried out, “If anyone thirsts,
let him come to me and drink.
Rivers of living water will brim
and spill out of the depths
of anyone who believes in me this way,
just as the Scripture says.

living water

the bathroom renovation is nearing completion
things at first only imagined are becoming real
fixtures are in place
lines are connected
and water flows

there is a finish line
we will cross it
and the work will be over

the renovation of my heart
mind and spirit
continues and continues
no perfection until I stand
in His presence
drenched in living water

flow fast
flow free
drench me

Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

walking with the imperfect but redeemed at Emily's

Drink...

I waited for rain, day after day,
and while Environment Canada posted high probabilities,
the skies remained locked tight
hard as the steel colour of the slow moving clouds

With patience thin and brittle I found myself
as parched as the ground we walked upon
flurries of dust rising with each step

Lord, You alone know how much we need your rain
my prayer repeated
and a bit of misty moisture fell
Is this it?  There surely must be more
as dry remained and another day passed into history

More there has been, drip by drip
no deluge, but a steady leak
just enough to awken my thirst to new depths
and while I would wish for Him to drench me
pouring out lavish drinks of Himself
He instead asks me to seek, and to gather
to savour the smallest licks
of refreshing

Joy filled
I find it is enough...

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. Exodus 16:4a NLT
