True Valentine

For Christmas I wrapped a present for Jesus.  For Valentine's Day I wrote Him a love letter.  As the true lover of my soul, He wrote back, words like:

Is it hard for you to understand My ways? I spoke to My disciples in parables. But let Me be clear now. My love is here and My love is true. Nothing will change My love for you.

Knowing Your Master

The air has taken on the chill of late autumn and we know that it is time to begin making preparations for the winter that is soon to come. With leaves crackling underfoot, my husband Rick moves back and forth around the yard, putting away tools, covering the most fragile plants with straw and cultivating the gardens before the snow falls.

Each time I catch a glimpse of him I notice he has a shadow: our dog Faith....

Inside and out

In church on Sunday, when I met the missionaries that were passing through town, headed for a placement in Kenya, I knew I wanted to spend some time together, sharing stories of Africa and how we too feel God’s call. I invited them for a meal. “Please, come for dinner. We’d love to spend time with you two.” Happy to be asked, they agreed.

“What was I thinking?” I asked myself on the day they were expected as I looked upon the disarray. “You can’t entertain new friends in this mess.”.....

Your 100 Day Prayer by John I. Snyder

There is nothing magical about praying for 100 days, but as author of Your 100 Day Prayer The Transforming Power of Actively Waiting on God John Snyder says:
This sustained, stubborn, never-give-up spirit of prayer is not so much to persuade God to give us what we want, but rather to transform us in the process.
I live in a world that teaches us to want quick results and instant answers, yet I find myself hearing, more and more often, the quiet voice I recognize as my Lord, asking me to “Be still.” He doesn’t want me to rush through the drive thru lane at a fast food place, but rather to sit down and enjoy a nutritious full course meal with Him.

This is not just 100 days of reading, although the scriptures and stories Snyder shares would stand alone as a fine book of devotions. This volume is a both a challenge and an opportunity to draw close to God in a deeper way.

Snyder asks you to choose a need and gives you space to express that need as you begin your journey. Then each day, he offers words, the Word, a suggestion for your daily prayer and space to make notes about progress in your 100 day prayer.

I am anxious to return to page 1 and begin, not simply reading, but praying and expecting God to change not just my circumstances but my heart.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com  book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I didn't fly alone...

It was going to be a long day of traveling. I had two flights ahead of me. I had selected aisle seats for a bit of extra legroom and to avoid feeling trapped. I was surprised at the number of people traveling so early on a Sunday morning and it seemed that many of them were going to be on this same plane.

I always pray for safe travel and for divine encounters that God arranges for His purposes, so I usually don’t hesitate to speak to strangers. As I located seat 23C I noticed a tiny, older woman already seated in the center seat of the row. I said a quiet “Hi” and she looked up at me with a friendly smile....
