Open door

when a door opens
often the wisest move
takes the most courage

may I be both bold
and brave
choosing to not linger in the shadows
peering out at the sun
but to step out
touched by glory

And while you are at it, add us to your prayers.
Pray that God would open doors
and windows and minds and eyes and hearts for the word
so we can go on telling the mystery of the Anointed

small but brave

the world keeps getting bigger
for a small kitten, brave
each day adventure waits
new scents, sounds
exploration calls strong
to discover what life holds
in long summer hours

brave goodbye

If you're brave to say "goodbye"
life will reward you with a 'hello"
Paulo Coelho

I have captured
in time, the seasons
of the tree at the curve
of our road

I seek courage
for farewells, to greet
other trees that wait
just around the curve
of new roads

He said so

Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage!
Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged.
God, your God, is with you every step you take

new land stretches
out long, wide
before me
clouds speak of storms
ahead, and I stop
gulping courage
like thin air, simply
because He
said so

if I stay, or
go, there He Is
helping me
put my brave on

To be brave

How brave the bud
stretching to open
no longer to hide
all the beauty within

Be brave and fear less

I used to imagine
that to be brave
meant to run into fear straight on
racing directly into the fire
But time teaches
and slowly, I learn

To be brave is to
fear – less
walk away from fear
one step
at a time

Fear does not diminish, no
there is never less to fear
the world spins on
a pace dizzying to most
hazards seeming to rise at every turn

But there is a hand
always ready to lead me
if I reach, grasp, hold on
then brave in His presence
I shed fear
