come and die

When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Yes, I have heard the call
my heart swells, trembles, breaks
and agrees but flesh
being flesh, resists
and the small self cries out:

what about me?

the answers comes
swift, certain:

it isn't about you
yet in everything you think you lose
more will be found in me
you hear My whisper
come and die
so that you might truly live

If you don’t go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don’t deserve me. If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me.  Matthew 10:38-39 The Message

Hi,
So grateful I linked up behind you at Emily's...yes, when we die to ourselves, by God's grace, God in His goodness gives us so much more...more Of His presence and more of His peace...yet can be a struggle to die to one's flesh...thankful for His patient love.

Hi firefly,

I'm hopping over from Emily's IP link up. Oh, those sobering words: "but flesh
being flesh, resists
and the small self cries out:

what about me?"

Ahh, yes. Me too at times. Sad, huh?

Thankful for his continued work in us,
