Knocking down mountains

I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
Psalm 121:1-2 The Message

I have looked to mountains
created mountains
sought support and encouragement there.
Am I smart enough? Am I warm enough? Do I have and use the gifts God gave me?
Am I clever?  Am I wise?  Do I have enough empathy?
Do I go to the Source with my questions and insecurities?
Sometimes.  But too often I turn to my mountains.
And here, where I crawl out of my cave
and pray for boldness to (as Billy Coffey said) write naked
and live with transparent integrity
with my words from the inside out
I have looked to the mountains of comments, mentions,
tweets, and retweets
to tell me I'm okay
soaking in that affirmation
like drinking from the wrong well

For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me—the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all! Jeremiah 2:13 NLT

So today, the encouragement I seek
the encouragement I need
is that you would help me
shatter the mountains
and direct me back to my Lord
the lover of my soul
my thirst quencher

and if I see you
looking up to the mountains
I'll do the same for you.

to write something like this your heart has to be in the right place. Your heart isn't looking to the mountains, or to the comments, or tweets, your eyes may wander there – but your heart knows its home – your heart obviously knows its true North. Still, I join you today in knowing that it's whose we are – not who we are that counts. I hearted this! Thank you. God bless him.

What a great reminder this is. I don't know any of us who don't like to be acknowledged for our work. Even when we know our work is for the glory of God almighty. My how the flesh does get in the way of all things.
Thanks for the spiritual "slap in the face." Sometimes it is needed. Not to pour too much on you in this realm, but this was amazing and inspiring. For the right reason.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder.

Sometime ago, I was obsessing about "followers" and then I found a lovely "follower free" picture, contacted the blogger, and now I have it posted on my side margin.

That freed me up internally, so I could just focus on the writing He gives me....until I get distracted by another mountain...

All for GOD,
Connie

Those mountains -- they can be beautiful - and they can be obstacles. Good poem/post, Karin.

Yes, beautiful post. And this is why we fellowship and encourage one another: to "direct me back to my Lord." Thank you for doing that here.

Hi HisFireFly --
"shatter the mountains
and direct me back to my Lord"

So thankful you shared this poetry with us. It's refreshing to my soul. And it gives a picture of the prayer I'm praying, friend.

Thank you for dropping me a lovely "love" note in my inbox last week. Felt so good to know I'm thought of. I am through the thick of my mountain and I'm out now. Thank you, friend. I will share soon. ;)
