Like a river
propels leaves
twigs, debris
downstream
as it flows
so is life
carried
in the blood
generation follows
generation
the curve of a smile
how the eyes see
a laugh
so familiar
it turns the heads
of those who hear
Life brings life
from ashes
rebuilds joy
renews hope
the blood beating
fresh rhythms
an invitation
to the dance.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse. Malachi 4:5-6 NKJV

Beautiful poem.
one generation to the next the river flows where we lead it or where we let it lead...
Nice ending with an invitation to the dance. One can lead or follow, but can't avoid it.
"how the eyes see
a laugh
so familiar
it turns the heads
of those who hear"
This passage made my head spin. So good and expressed through multiple sense modalities. Great composition.
dustus says it much better than i can.
i like the little memories eye colour or the same little toes that pop up in future generations
And the music for the dance is played by the Fiddler. REally like this, Karin.
I love the eternal truth that rings throughout this great poem. From generation down to generation not only familiar traits exist but spiritual links also. Beautiful.
Life does bring life, from ashes, from eternity, from void. this is simply true and beautiful.
