Drink...

I waited for rain, day after day,
and while Environment Canada posted high probabilities,
the skies remained locked tight
hard as the steel colour of the slow moving clouds

With patience thin and brittle I found myself
as parched as the ground we walked upon
flurries of dust rising with each step

Lord, You alone know how much we need your rain
my prayer repeated
and a bit of misty moisture fell
Is this it?  There surely must be more
as dry remained and another day passed into history

More there has been, drip by drip
no deluge, but a steady leak
just enough to awken my thirst to new depths
and while I would wish for Him to drench me
pouring out lavish drinks of Himself
He instead asks me to seek, and to gather
to savour the smallest licks
of refreshing

Joy filled
I find it is enough...

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. Exodus 16:4a NLT

Joining Joan over at Emily's, walking with the broken, the imperfect, the redeemed...

In all times, He supplies. It may not look like what we want, but He knows and graces us to pursue the depths to come. Wonderful, Karin. Thank you.

Yes, learning to live with just enough and sometimes not quite enough, is hard. Especially in a society who tells us more is better.

Karin, hopping over from Imperfect Prose. This rain/joy piece spoke to me of our hunger for God's presence and his Holy Spirit--my prayer often...I look forward to following and reading more.
