Surprised by dawn

Don't be surprised by the darkness
come it will
and come again
heavy, thick with lying voices
that accuse, condemn
tell you you're the only one
that ever lost the light

Don't be surprised by tears
come they will
and come again
instead of running
let them wash you clean

Allow the surprise
of rising dawn
to shake you, wake you
give yourself leave
to explode with joy
reach hard, grab hold
pulling down truth,
light, life

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world

Walking with Emily and the broken

Well, hello Imperfect Prose neighbor! I can't believe that the first two posts I clicked on were poetry! I struggle to make sense of it, yet all my poet/friends still put up with me!

But. I really appreciate your reminder: Don't be surprised. I need to be more surprised by the grace that comes in the darkness.

I want to be washed clean by the tears of pain I face. I want to be "shaken" enough to explode with joy. So very lovely and you've certainly succeeded in encouraging me, friend!

Wow. I love this, so much:
" Allow the surprise
of rising dawn
to shake you, wake you
give yourself leave
to explode with joy..."

My word for the year is joy, and this is how I sense it coming, a rising dawn that surprises, shakes, wakes and then, explodes. I needed that imagery. Thank you.

Lamentations 3:22-23
It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are NEW EVERY MORNING: great is thy faithfulness.

Lovely poetry. I'm always amazed at the poets pen which seems to allude me.

I love this and thought of Nicole's words, here: http://www.owenstoafrica.com/2013/01/known/

The two posts go together like pb&j.

That verse from John takes my breath every time.

"the surprise of a rising dawn" I love joy expressed in those words. The words go well with the photos.
Beautiful!
