woven roads

do I need to follow
a trail, some crumbs
left behind
signposts, reminders
a way back, without
repeating, errors
missteps, sorrows
no
I need footprints
a new road woven
with the ancient paths
by the Master
wiggling my toes
into promises
not yet born

God’s Message yet again:
“Go stand at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for directions to the old road, The tried-and-true road.
Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls.

this is the way

Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”

in the clearing

the twisted road finds dark corners
twigs snapping beneath
the softest of
footfalls, fear
creeps damp, cold
the sense of not being
quite alone, like sweat clinging close
but this is no
horror story, not
a journey of fear
listen, follow step into the space
around the bend
where light bursts forth
according to plan

at the pub telling stories
in exactly 55 words

New steps

Rejoice in what has gone before
it made us who we are

take the new steps before you
following no footprints but His

Your paths

Show me Your ways, O Lord;
teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness
and teach me,
for You are the God of my salvation;
for You [You only and altogether]
do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.

I simply follow

Winding hills and flat stretches
without a curve or bump to help mark the time
this path He sets before me
rarely can I see past the next step
this too is by His design
for would I go if I knew what waits for me?
would Paul have risen from that Damascus road
had he understood the trials that would come
walking in obedience to the one he came to know as Lord?

Each day is filled with the expectation of surprise
and yes, sometimes my heart grows weary, worried
when I forget to trust the path’s Creator.

My hand is always within your reach - He whispers
you do not ever need walk alone
and even when you do not feel it
I Am leading you

How then could I ever dream of choosing another road?
