psalm 26

psalm 26

rejoice for the sun rises
and here am I while many
did not awake to see this day
broken wide open in glory
the safety of Your promises
sheltering me, driving me
comforting me, filling me
with courage to shout
Your name, proclaim
Your majesty
and walk again
into the newness
of life in The Light

What is man?

What is man that You are mindful of him,
and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings],
and You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious)
is Your name in all the earth!

No boasting here

I stroke a brush
against canvas
layers of colour
dripping heart
for all to see

I drop words
into lines
on papers and screens
stripping soul
for all to read

I sense pressure
from my own fingers
drumming my back
“well done”
as if I could lay claim
to creative ability

I cannot boast, now
as I look
upon the sunrise
His glory
And I, even I,
The work of His hands

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands  Psalm 19:1 NIV

The world awash

We had a winter of white, more snow than most could recall, and the heavy rains that followed washed it all away but left flooding behind.
Not a lake, but a meadow waits here for drying winds to blow.  The air is filled with songs.  Seagulls, ducks and frogs call out in their rejoicing.

What is inconvenient for man proves enjoyable to a group of pelicans.

As for us, we live on high sandy ground.  The excess moisture has created extravagance.  Lush.

I will spend my afternoon in the breezy sunlight, riding the lawn tractor, nothing to do but worship and pray as I complete the first cutting of the year.

Another cycle of breath. Exhale winter weariness.  Inhale new life.

Prayer on a mid-December afternoon

It's a mid-December Saturday afternoon, the week before Christmas, with the sun hiding golden amid the bleak clouds of winter.

Snow stranded and home bound I have been blessed, having time to ponder the glory of His coming, into a world as stark as this --

Yet come He did, and come again He will, not as a child but as our King.  Yes, I rejoice in the wonder of His promises and the completeness of His gift, indeed my praises rise.

Still today my heart is troubled for those who do not recognize His birth or hope for His return; those who cannot see the light behind the clouds.  Tears flow as my spirit aches, a groaning deep, an exhalation of sighs, every breath a prayer.

Lord, may they know You.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. John 1:9-10 NIV

Rejoice - yes rejoice!

This year, as the season of miracles is upon us, the Lord draws us close and closer and my spirit resonates and dances to the words that Mary sang:
"My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior"

How can my lips remain silent?  How can this heart not tremble in worship?
I tune my spirit to the chorus of angels, rejoicing with all who have gone before
all who sing this day and all who are yet to come.

Rejoice for the light has overcome the darkness.
Rejoice for He has conquered sin and death.
Rejoice for our Savior reigns now and forever more.

The truth of His being
fills me, thrills me
finds me humble and shivering with joy
tears falling hot and sweet
as in awe and wonder, yes
I rejoice!

And Mary said:
“ My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
And holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm;
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.
Luke 1:46-53 NKJV

Sunday morning praise

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory on [or above] the heavens.

Be blessed as you worship today.
