words

words
sharp, cold
fall like rain
collect at my feet
make the road slippery
ripe with danger

words
smooth, warm
drip like honey
cling to my heart
make the road sticky
slowing my steps

words
liquid, hot
refine like fire
burn deep in my spirit
make the road new
no time to linger

words
my currency
what I give, receive
breathe

Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

hanging out at with the other poets at the bar tonight

Much wisdom collected here in these words--I am slowing down and letting them sink in--

The last stanza sums it up. Words are everything. Probably the most powerful things on the planet!

Wow, excellent poem. Yes, words are so powerful, and sometimes so inadequate- like this response. Seriously thoughtful here.

Beautiful words to sink and reflect:

I specially like this part:

words
liquid, hot
refine like fire
burn deep in my spirit
make the road new

Words are powerful as they can carry so much emotion. Your words moved me this day.

Without words, what did we have? Grunts? But those WERE words--expression.

Even nature has it's voice, instructing all in its way. Wordless? Nope! Not to me.

Words carry best the message of truth, hope, forgiveness and LOVE!
Blessings!
