yes to the next

Yesterday I wrote about saying "yes"
to get to the last, start at the next
the next page
the next breath
the next door
open wide to the "yes"
and watch dreams unfold

sweeten the day for yourself or a friend

Saying yes to the light

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

I knew the light was there, bright and burning hot
there was colour, life in the light
but snuggled into darkness I felt safe, protected
all my imperfections hidden
their heaviness pressed hard upon me
almost like an embrace
I had grown accustomed to the weight of them
added bit by bit, slow so I wouldn't even notice
I could hardly breathe

I could not have seen the darkness
without the light
growing stronger
the shadows deepened, gripping
comfort vanished

I surrendered to the pull
to the warm
and saying yes to the light
found the heavy lift
yes to the light
yes to light
yes

sharing the light with the imperfect and redeemed at Emily's

and jamming about yes with Bonnie

Less of me

Twelve years ago
I surrendered
to the Son of God/Son of Man

The small, hard pebble
that was my heart
softened and swelled as He entered

good, this is good indeed
my spirit heard His approval

Then the flesh
surrounding the pliable heart
softened and swelled also

twelve years on
my spirit has learned to submit
while my flesh has run wild

Yesterday, in exercise and praise
I was singing a familiar chorus
"more of You and less of me"
and my spirit vibrated
a resounding "yes"

I am getting ready
to be ready
to jump when He says jump
seeking lightness
the ability to fly
when He gives me wings

In all ways of the spirit
I have tried to live the words of John
now I resolve, with the strength of Christ
in a tangible, physical sense
"I will decrease"

He must increase, but I must decrease.
[He must grow more prominent;
I must grow less so.]

Did Mary know? Do I?

Did Mary know
when the angel came
what her surrender
would accomplish?

Then Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said. And the angel left her.  Luke 1:38 Amplified

Questions will remain unasked,
unanswered
not every stop will be marked
neatly on a map
I may not know the why
but must believe that the Who
can sort out the how
and my part
the simplest and most difficult
is to say "yes"

because nothing I can imagine
can compare
and all that is good, in me
is His

according to His Word
according to His will
let it be done to me
let it be done through me
