calling Your children

While digging through stacks of old papers, in the process of cleaning I uncovered a scrap.
Lyrics to a song that has no melody but rhythm that resonates in my spirit.
Now that I have reclaimed it perhaps music will come forth.

You Are calling Your children to draw closer
You will gather us together
to sit around Your throne
You desire us all to linger in Your presence
You Are glory
You Are shelter
You Are home

You Are what we cry for
a love we've never known
all we've ever needed
is You and You alone

and yes, we will dance
when You ask us to dance
and yes, we will sing out Your name
our Father
our Savior
the Spirit of life
forever and ever the same

Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house.
Give it plenty of room in your lives.
Instruct and direct one another using good common sense.
And sing, sing your hearts out to God!
Let every detail in your lives
—words, actions, whatever—
be done in the name of the Master, Jesus,
thanking God the Father every step of the way

saxy songs

I never knew the way
to Baker Street or
San Jose or any of those
too hip to show your hand
hang outs

captured by the wail
down paths wide
and slow
or up narrow, fast

calling me home and
pulling me back
to dark streets
alleys, drawn
with magnet force
to the wild side

sax cries hot sweat,
passion drips
into veins throbbing to
live here now

hanging out with the poets today

also adding to the poetic strains of rock and roll at tweetspeak poetry

My life is His music

Often, if it were up to me, life would settle into a predictable pattern, but this life is not my own.

Here are the words the Lord shared with me as we sat together in the early morning:

Surely I tell you that another transition is coming, for indeed life remains in motion and I need you fluid, not static.

Do not remain stuck in what you think you know.  Allow Me to move you based on what I know.  Yes, I, the One with thoughts much higher than your thoughts.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 NLT

As you surrender, change becomes more organic as you live in a continual state of letting go.

I Am the writer, the orchestrator and the conductor, and you, little one, an instrument that will release beautiful music in My hands.

Flashback Friday - Remembering a sad song

This week on Flashback Friday Jo asks us to offer a musical memory. The following song was popular during my junior high school years and fits right in with today's earlier post Rejection Revisited. The pitiful, overly dramatic lyrics helped many a pre-teen wallow in emotion.

Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat

Blue, blue, my world is blue
Blue is my world now I'm without you

Gray, gray, my life is gray
Cold is my heart since you went away

Red, red, my eyes are red
Crying for you alone in my bed
Green, green, my jealous heart
I doubted you and now we're apart

When we met how the bright sun shone
Then love died, now the rainbow is gone

Black, black, the nights I've known
Longing for you so lost and alone

Stop by at Mylestones and add a musical memory of your own!
