Honor

Heaven is declaring God’s glory;
the sky is proclaiming his handiwork.
One day gushes the news to the next,
and one night informs another what needs to be known.
Of course, there’s no speech, no words—
their voices can’t be heard—
but their sound extends throughout the world;
their words reach the ends of the earth.

Father, mother, those placed in earthly authority
all these command, deserve

Mention my work, thank me
I reply that I am humbled to receive

Asked to contribute, help, serve
my response is that I would be

And yet, as I gaze, jaw slack
at all He Is,Was,Will Be
within me, around me
every speck, every breath of being
I can do nothing
but give all honor to Him

Talking Marriage at The Cafe

I have a story I would just love to tell you. It’s about the evening a stranger showed up in our yard selling fish from the back of his truck. I would really, really enjoy letting you know all about what happened when Rick went out to have a look. But I can’t. I simply can’t.

I have chosen to make our marriage a haven, a refuge where my husband can dwell.....

read the rest of the story HERE at the Internet Cafe Devotions Marriage Counter where its my turn to pour.

Mom's china

Floral on ivory
crafted in Bohemia
edged in gold
plates, salad dishes
cups and saucers
serving platters
bowls large for soup
small for fruit
stashed unused for years
on shelves
in my mother's kitchen
cherished because
they belonged
to her mother
before her
these find a way
to my table
to honour both
where hearts gather
to find their joy
in the love and provision
of the Lord
here, where I feel
almost as fragile
as the fine china
moving my past
into my future.
