in His presence

One way to recollect the mind easily
in the time of prayer,
and preserve it more in tranquillity,
is not to let it wander too far at other times.
You should keep it strictly in the presence of God;
and being accustomed to think of Him often,
you will find it easy
to keep your mind calm
in the time of prayer,
or at least to recall it from its wanderings.

  1. Brother Lawrence has been one of my favorites way since the mid '60s when I was given his book... it didn't look quite the same as today's covers, etc. But the words are the same. He was a real blessing... clear back then when that wasn't something he ever planned to do. Just work for the Lord, cook, clean, whatever. And then it exploded into his life ...and then the life of others b/c he could share so straightforwardly when people needed so much info and encouragement. Thanks for sharing this. You grabbed me again, Karin.

  2. Practice makes almost perfect...

    I love the word, "tranquility."

As we travel on the road our Lord has placed before us, it's nice to meet a friend along the way. Thank you for stopping to leave a few or many words, I'm always interested to read your thoughts.
blessings and love,
in His service,
in the fire,
