Diving in

Restless, I stretch
slip like a shadow from room
to room
wander outside
pet the dog, call the cats
check remaining life
in the flower beds
anything
but confronting the empty
page
blank screen
white space.

I do not know
can not imagine
how to begin

or where I am going.

Distraction
pokes, prods, pinches
whispers, wiggles, welcomes me
to anything but words.

Then I remember

I have but one muse
the Author
of my life
my faith

the ultimate

creative voice.

He charts my course

but supplies me

no road map

His request simple

"Trust Me."

So not certain

if waters are shallow, deep

frigid or warm

I dive in, begin

one word

for One

and always

faithful

He multiplies.
