wind blowing cold
wild again
low moan background
music to my morning
tension strums nerves
no whispering
breeze this clamoring
wail demanding answers
I have no reply
curl up small
in fleecy protection
warm the wolves
can wait another day
back at the bar with the poets

Nice! I like the contrast between the howling fierceness and the cozy fleece. The form really works, too.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like my area with the cold wild wind. It does seem sometimes like the wind IS waiting for a response. ( I have none for it, except spring come soon!) And yes, the wind CAN wait!
ReplyDeleteI can hear the wind moaning & wailing ~ I'd rather be inside, curled warm ~
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I will show it to my students... I feel as if they often make the choice to wait until the next day on cold windy mornings.
ReplyDeletenice...yes..the wolves can wait another day..enjoy the cozy fleeceness as long as possible
ReplyDeletegood beat with this one. hopefully those wolves can wait ~
ReplyDeleteWonderful .. The coziness of a blanket in a day of winter.
ReplyDeleteThis is really nice.
ReplyDeleteah stay warm...we are in the midst of it right now as well...was out just a bit ago with my son...and i am happy to be warm and inside right now....
ReplyDeleteI'm in a warm place but this took me back to a taste of winter. The way you drew in the wolves worked so well.
ReplyDeleteI felt like we shared a world here. Great writing.
ReplyDelete"fleecy protection" and "wolves"...made me grin...I agree, stay curled up and warm!
ReplyDeleteI love your economy of words. Image/feeling/image. I set out to write a poem like this last night, then words took over. Very skilled.
ReplyDeletelet us hope the wolves never find us.
