The better part

There is a sense of too much in my day,
yet not so much that I should complain
I am scattered, pulled from one task to another
There are books to read
words that cry to come forth
in poetry, fiction, bloggy prose
There is the keeping of a home
establishing a place of comfort, rest, peace
Cooking meals and in this season,
canning, freeezing, preserving the harvest

All this with a voice that speaks loud
even in lies
"you will never be good enough"
A voice only satisfied
when I freeze and do nothing
I must be dangerous to his agenda
This I believe

So I run to my Lord
and he nods His head
opens His arms and says:

We will sort things out together
but for now be still with Me
choose the better part
then, in Me, all will be completed
in the proper time and order

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  Luke 10:41-42 NIV

  2. Wow. I started crying as I read this...you are voicing what I've been feeling all day; I've been to the point of paralysis because there are so many things I need to be doing. But the thing I need to do the most is run to Jesus. And I am doing that now...everything in HIS timing. Thank you!

  4. Not only does he never say "you're not good enough;" He says just the opposite: "I want you just like you are right now."

Yes! We've been so busy and last night my 10 year old had a meltdown at the pool and all she needed was to hear that message, love of God delivered through her mother.

  7. Thank you for this post. I have been feeling so inadequate. This voice that lies to me keeps me from the very One who can give me the value that I seek. He is so good to draw us.

  8. Yes. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. Let Him do. He's got that still, small voice; sometimes we have to be mighty hushed to hear Him. God bless you, Sister. Here from Emily's.

As we travel on the road our Lord has placed before us, it's nice to meet a friend along the way. Thank you for stopping to leave a few or many words, I'm always interested to read your thoughts.
blessings and love,
in His service,
in the fire,
