Indecisive & Unpredictable

These are the days when one is never certain of how the weather might change. Fleeting moments of brilliant sun warms the bones and then the clouds gather, the temperatures drop and drops of rain turn into snow, again.

It is the time for beginning the yard work of Spring, yet still a time for curling up to read wrapped up in warm throws after the sun goes down.

My thoughts seem as uncertain and unpredictable as the weather, flitting about not knowing quite where to alight. I'm having trouble with focus and concentration. I am comforted in the knowledge that I am not to trust my thoughts, but to rely on my Lord.

"Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 Amplified

Yes, Lord God, I will put my hope and trust in You. I will come into Your presence and find my rest. I will wait upon You and follow Your directions. Here am I, I am Yours.

Warm and warmer

There is little snow left in the fields around our home, and with the temperature not expected to dip below freezing overnight I expect the world will look different yet again tomorrow morning.

It was lovely to walk about the yard this afternoon in just a sweater and to sit on the deck with the dog letting the sun seep into my winter weary bones. I am reminded of the following passage:

"My beloved spoke, and said to me: "Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away!"" Song of Solomon 2:10-13

Retreat

Lat week Rick and I drove for about 5 hours to Whiteshell Provincial Park in Southeastern Manitoba for a two night retreat. This was the view of the still snow covered lake from the enclosed porch of our cabin. In the silence we were able to quiet ourselves and spend time with our Lord, for in Psalm 46:10 He calls to us "Be still and know that I am God" .

We spent time in worship, in prayer, in reflection and also joyously drew closer to each other as man and wife. The accomodations were more than we could have hoped for (isn't that just like our God) and exceeded what the pictures had promised. The cabin included a 2 person jacuzzi, a comfy sofa in front of a gas fireplace and a kitchen stocked with all the tools we needed to prepare meals together.
We're so used to sleeping in a queen size bed we nearly lost each other in the king! Interesting choice of words, I just realized, as getting lost in our King was the purpose of the trip!!
During this time of transition, it was too slippery to do much walking, so we toured about by car, stopping to take pictures. Here, one of the lakes is beginning to thaw and the water was brillant blue and flowing in the center. The picnic table was yet surrounded by snow.

There were granite formations everywhere we looked and then I realized we were seeing a part of the Canadian Shield. I felt led to declare in prayer that Canada was indeed founded on the Rock of Christ and will rise to fulfill her destiny in the Kingdom of God.

Here's Rick, a prophetic picture of Psalm 40:1-3
"I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD."

Meltdown?

I found myself delighed today to see colour as I looked out my kitchen window. The red of the buildings and bright blue of the sky is such a contrast to the stark blacks, whites and grays that have overtaken our landscape for far too long this year.

Yes, as things begin to thaw the yard turns into a sloppy, muddy mess, but I still rejoice in coming of Spring. I am reminded that as God by His Holy Spirit begins to melt our hearts and reshape us into His image we get messy also. The glory yet to come is surely worth the temporary muddle.

For I consider that the sufferings of the present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory about to be revealed in us. Romans 8:18 ALT
